He Teaches Us

He Teaches Us

He Teaches Us

The Holy Spirit’s work in us begins by convicting us of our sin and then renewing our minds.

John 16:13-15 - When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’ (NLT)

Children don’t understand many things. They learn some things just by watching and observing the world. But there are other things that need to be taught to them, like history, science and math. They would never know the significance or even the existence of many of these things without someone teaching them.

In a similar way, we need the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s truth to us. We can’t grow spiritually without His work in our lives. We are like children who can see the world but fail to make the proper connections about what’s important and what’s not. We need the Holy Spirit to work in us to shape us into the people He has called us to be.

Jesus said, “When the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you” (John 14:26).

Talking to God
Accept the Spirit’s instruction and guidance “into all truth.” Thank God for his compassionate work in your life and for giving you what you need even when you don’t know you need it. Thank God for the gift of his Spirit to teach you, convict you and lead you into all truth.
